Allscripts (Chicago) has entered into an amended strategic alliance agreement with GE Healthcare (Waukesha, Wis), the parent company of IDX Systems Corp (Burlington, Vt). Under the terms of the agreement, Allscripts' existing alliance with IDX will continue through the 5 years remaining under the original agreement, supporting the ongoing integration and compatibility of the Allscripts and IDX products. GE Healthcare will continue to offer Allscripts' TouchWorks EHR within the IDX client base, in addition to its own Centricity Ambulatory EMR. The agreement also allows Allscripts to enter the practice management systems (PMS) market and to offer an integrated practice management and EHR solution, depending on the needs and size of the practice.

The new modular facility is part of WWO's expansion of patient services to include PET/CT exams directly on-site for a continuum of care. The custom-built modular facility adds nearly 1,000 square feet of space. It expands the WWO's diagnostic capabilities and gives patients a central location for their oncology care. It houses a patient prep area for FDG uptake, the equipment room for scanning, and a technologist control station.
