Amber Diagnostics (Orlando, Fla) has moved into a new 25,000-sq-ft facility, housing the company's sales and administration offices, as well as its warehouse and the seven stage-out bays for testing equipment in real-world settings. Amber Diagnostics' new facility is located at 2180 Premier Row, Orlando, FL 32809.
Daniel G. Schultz, MD, has been named director of the FDA's Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH of Rockville, Md). Schultz has served the FDA since 1994 and will be responsible for the organization's review of all medical devices, equipment, instruments, and supplies. He also will oversee the user fees issue and its review of medical device marketing applications.
Steven Plochocki, president and CEO of InSight Health Services Corp (Lake Forest, Calif), has left the company. Plochocki served the company for more than 4 years. Michael Madler, executive VP-fixed division of InSight, has left the company as well. Madler served InSight for nearly 8 years. Michael Cannizzaro, the company's chairman of the board, has been appointed president and CEO. Cannizzaro has 27 years of healthcare industry management experience.
The company also has opened a new diagnostic imaging center in Columbus, Ohio, which will operate as Polaris Open MRI. The 3,000-sq-ft facility, which will offer high-field open MRI services, is located at 2141 Polaris Pkwy, Columbus, OH 43240, and can be reached at 614-841-0800. With the opening of the third Columbus-area location, InSight named Jill Litzinger branch manager. Litzinger, who also serves as area manager for all three Columbus-area locations, is responsible for overseeing the new center's daily branch operations. She has worked in the imaging industry for 10 years and has been employed with InSight Health Services since 1997.
VirtualScopics (Rochester, NY) has appointed Stuart Shapiro, MD, as the company's CEO. Shapiro will lead VirtualScopics into larger markets, including oncology, cardiovascular, and neurology. Shapiro has more than 20 years of experience working in executive positions. He has led public and private companies as well as large nonprofit organizations and government agencies.
