DeCreasha is one of the most versatile and explosive players in Texas, and she is only a junior. Capable of playing every position on the court, she often dominates the flow of the game.
Cre is the main reason everybody in Dripping Springs is so excited about the upcoming basketball season. But it goes beyond just one player because the Lady Tigers have depth around her, making them one of the favorites to make the trip to Austin in 2006.
Dripping Springs does have amazing talent but they will have to make up for a lack of experience having just graduated a bunch of quality seniors.

TXGGB asked:
With so many seniors graduating, how will you step up as a leader in an attempt to take this team to state?
Cre's response:
People say that it's what you do when the coaches are not looking that makes you a great player. I take that philosophy to heart. So when I was given that opportunity and responsibility, I simply smiled and thought okay it's time to lead by example. I have kept in contact with the girls making sure they are preparing themselves for the upcoming season. I tell them to work hard everytime they step on the floor, and to dedicate themselves to our goals. Reminding them that we have to make up for our lack of varsity playing experience.

TXGBB asked:
What is one of the funniest things you do?
CRE's response:
I sometimes pretend I'm in a real game, even though I'm by myself in the gym. I'm the coach, the ref, the player and the crowd. I call a timeout announcing in my best coach's voice, "timeout GOLD!"
I'll huddle up the team and tell them what we need to run calling for "a double quick to Creasha."
I start to get a bit nervous realizing the game rides on my shoulders, and start to talk to myself saying, "calm down, Cre you got it."
|
I whisper to my teammate, "we can do this."
Then I pretend I'm the crowd and start to chant, "Creasha, Creasha, Creasha!"
I dribble, I spin, I shoot we WIN! Yes, I am a little crazy.

TXGGB asked:
You are a very versatile player, but which part of the game do you like the best and what do you need to improve on?
Cre's response:
My favorite part of the game is transition, because you have the chance to challenge the defending player in the open court. It is also a great opportunity to display teamwork running the court and passing to beat the defense. I love taking someone one on one to the basket, and I'm working hard on improving my pull-up jumper.

| Coach Tandy Betak |

|
Coach Betak takes over the head basketball position after seven years experience as an assistant. He smiles when he talks about his wife's connection to the his new program stating "she played on the last state championship team in Dripping Springs."
We asked coach Betak what his thoughts on Decreasha were and he said, "Decreasha is one of those few players who can take over a game at any time. She has the ability to play all of the positions on the floor and has first step quickness that some players can only imagine having. When she drives in, she either gets fouled or scores. Her ability to see the floor as a guard and still be strong enough to post up and bang inside
makes her a nightmare to defend. Decreasha is a gym rat, who is always
working out with her father and her teammates in the summer and has steadily improved her game every year. She is a student of the game and
discussing basketball with her is like talking to a veteran coach with 20
years experience. The scary thing about Decreasha, is she is only ajunior and she is getting better and better. "

Coach Betak's thoughts on the upcoming season:
"I think we can be a serious threat in our region. There are some teams that can make a serious run like Kerrville Tivy, Boerne, Del Valle, Marble Falls, Calallen, Connally and I feel we are right there with them. We lost 7 seniors last year including three starters, but the talent we have coming back at guard (Decreasha, starting PG Jenny Hill '07, Megan Boutin
'08) and then inside with seniors Jessica Risien and Megan Tuck, I feel
confident we have the tools to be a serious playoff threat. It also
doesn't hurt to have a talented incoming sophomore class coming off a 24-1 record as freshmen to help lend some depth to the varsity. I think we will
have some team speed that we haven't had in Dripping Springs in some time but, the loss of Megan Harrison inside is a presence that will be missed, but I think we have some very capable players that can get the job done inside. We'll get tested early on with some big games against the likes of Georgetown and Corpus Christi Carroll. I think we play nothing but 5A
teams before we get to district, so we should see what we are made of early on."
TexasGirlsBasketball.com wishes DeCreasha, Coach Betak and the rest of the Lady Tigers a successful run at the final four.
