Three to Get Ready

by Andi Lucas

This month, I have three items to share with the readers of Medical Imaging . And the topics really jive with the opening lyrics to "Blue Suede Shoes," the rock 'n' roll standard made popular by, among others, Elvis Presley.

One for the Money. First up is our second-annual salary survey, which is taking place right now on our Web site ( www.medicalimagingmag.com
/salarysurvey
). This survey was a big hit last year—we had more than 600 participants, representing about a 10% response rate. After the survey results were printed in our August 2005 issue, I received many letters and phone calls from readers who wanted to discuss the results in further detail. It was great chatting with some of you, and I hope that more of you will participate in this year's survey. Among other things, our survey is polling basic demographic information, including your age and gender, the type of facility in which you work, your subspecialty, your education level, the number of years you've been in the field, and the like.

We're also asking for financial information, including your annual salary, other compensation, and benefits received. (I'm curious to see if there has been a shift in how much more men are paid than women; last year showed that female respondents' salaries were roughly 55% of male respondents' salaries.) Also, we'd like to see how satisfied you are with your salary and position. (Last year, 84% of respondents said that they would recommend their job to others; I'm curious to see if the number is about the same this year.) So please visit our site and be sure to participate in the survey—you could win one of two $100 gift certificates to Amazon.com. The survey also will help you to benchmark your own salary and benefits against your colleagues nationwide. You might be surprised at how good you have it!

Two for the Show. Next on my list is a quick reminder about the 53rd Annual Meeting of the Society of Nuclear Medicine (SNM of Reston, Va). We've tailored a few articles in this issue to the meeting—including our cover story ("Mapping Improvements in Molecular Imaging"), an update on contrast agents and injectors, and "A Closer Look"—our image of the month. As usual, the meeting has a full agenda, packed with educational sessions, CME opportunities, guest lectures, special events, and more. Along with the staff of Medical Imaging, I will be attending the show, so please stop by Booth 1645 to say hello and discuss the incredible advances you've heard about with regard to molecular imaging, a field that continues to explode.

Three to Get Ready . Finally, it almost goes without saying that one of the goals of this magazine is to keep you informed—to get you ready for the plethora of events offered in the space, which lead to more meetings, conference calls with colleagues, quick chats with physicians, and more. We recently launched Medical Imaging News (MIN), a weekly e-newsletter delivered right to your e-mail inbox every Wednesday. MIN covers everything going on in the field of medical imaging, from new products, contract awards, partnerships, and promotions, to FDA clearances, study results, event and facility highlights, and government news. We also keep archives so that you can read past editions of MIN. If you haven't subscribed to this incredible resource already, you should! Visit "subscribe" to start your subscription today.

So, I've said my peace—for this month. Your thoughts and comments are always welcome. Now, without further ado, I think it's time to go, "CAT" go!
