HealthSouth Corp’s Diagnostic Division will sell for approximately $47.5 million, according to an announcement made late last month. Subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approval, the transaction is expected to be complete by the summer.

Being purchased by The Gores Group, a private equity firm, HealthSouth’s Diagnostic Division is currently comprised of a network of 54 freestanding diagnostic imaging centers in 19 states and the District of Columbia. Most of its sites offer multimodality outpatient diagnostic imaging services.

During the last year, HealthSouth also has realized $20.5 million in cash in connection with the divestiture of a number of individual diagnostic imaging facilities, as well as various equipment and assets owned by the division.
