HD Comes to Diagnostic Imaging
The clarity that has been impressing consumers for years has finally started to impact the world of diagnostic imaging. Early this month, physicians at El Camino Hospital (Mountain View, Calif) participated in a video conference with colleagues at City of Hope (Duarte, Calif), a biomedical research and treatment center, and hospital for cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
Using the high-definition IP-based IPELA visual communications system from Sony Electronics to host a live, two-way conference, oncologists at the two facilities shared data on cases involving difficult-to-treat liver tumors.
The precise detail, clarity, and resolution of HD technology provided clinicians with diagnostic-quality images of everything from individual blood vessels in a surgical video to the granular details of a pathology slide.
