MEDRAD’s Endorectal MR Coils Recognized for Innovation
MEDRAD received the Frost & Sullivan Innovation Award for "unprecedented" imaging of the pelvis, prostate, colon, and cervix.
The eCoil was designed to produce small field-of-view and high spatial resolution, sensitivity, and specificity in images of the pelvic region.
The eCoil line consists of disposable endorectal probes that are interfaced using various auto-tuning devices compatible with major manufacturers’ MR scanners. A specific design of probe is available for the anatomical differences of prostate, colorectal, and cervical regions.
This technology also is beginning to be used in prostate MR, according to the company. It is especially useful in such situations as when a patient has an increased PSA level and a negative biopsy, or for planning radiation treatment therapy for a patient, among others.
