ARRS: Making It Easier to Find Radiology Images
The American Roentgen Ray Society (ARRS) recently introduced another tool for clinicians looking for radiology images.
GoldMiner is a search engine that provides access to radiological images published in selected peer-reviewed radiology journals that are available online. Clinicians can search for images by findings, anatomy, imaging technique, patient age, and/or patient gender.
GoldMiner is designed to comprehend medical vocabulary, according to ARRS, making it easier to discover and retrieve medical concepts in free-text figure captions. The engine also recognizes abbreviations, synonyms, and types of diseases.
Search results present a thumbnail image which, when selected, will connect the user to the original article's site, where the full-sized image and full text of the article are available as well.
The search engine can also be accessed via the American Journal of Roentgenology (AJR).
